Living In Fear
I can’t imagine ever being away from either of my babies for more than 12 hours, let alone imagine their cries as they’re being taken away from me.
All weekend long I’ve been reading articles regarding all the immigrant children being detained and I can’t help but be heartbroken. One of the articles mentioned how 16 year olds were left in charge of taking care of a 2 year old all while being kept in cages created by metal fencing. It actually turned out the little girl was 4 years old and was taken away from her aunt, this little girl was so traumatized that she wasn’t even talking and was curled up in a little ball.
I’m so over protective with my babies that I can’t even see them fall without running over to make sure they’re okay. Just thinking of both of my babies being put in cages, being left in the care of other kids, not being allowed to read a book or play with toys, or simply having to sleep on the floor on makeshift beds and use foil sheets as covers brings tears to my eyes.
The most frustrating thing about all of this is that I’m hardly seeing people try and do anything about it. If this was another women’s march there would hundreds of people in different cities coming out, if this was another person of color being unjustly shot there would be an outraged and a hashtag trending, but I hardly see anyone bringing this up on social media or trying to at least help in their own way!
These are little kids being ripped apart from their families and being traumatized at such a young age for simply wanting a better chance at life. Yet, all I'm seeing on social media is talk about a rapper getting shot but yet none of these people are mentioning anything about these children.
There are so many "influencers" who say they're so proud to be Chicano and proud to be Latino and a POC but have hardly said anything to their followers regarding this! And yes, I am saying all of this out of anger and to be spiteful because I'm so mad that these kids have to even spend a day through this hell!
I’ve made a list of organizations which are working on helping the families being separated. Im not asking for much but if you’re reading this please donate anything you possibly can or call your senators! I hope you're all grateful that the children in your life are safe and are not being taken away from you!
